The Happily Ever After Course

Four evenings. Six sessions. Nobody drifts on purpose — a marriage accumulates ordinary weeks until two people who love each other are excellent colleagues and quiet strangers. This is how you turn that around, and it does not require a crisis to be worth doing.

Three ways to do it

At home, online, or in a room with other couples.

01

The workbook alone

One copy each — not one per couple. You write separately and then compare, which is what stops the louder one setting the answer before the quieter one has found theirs. Work through it at your own kitchen table. No account needed.

02

Online, at your own pace

The six sessions online with the workbook, ordered by your Map rather than by number — so you begin where the work actually is.

03

Online plus two live sessions

Everything above, plus two sessions with a certified Guide who reads your Map with you and asks the questions a page cannot.

What you work through

Six sessions across four evenings

Meetings one to three hold two sessions each with a break between them. The fourth is one evening, and it ends with something in your own handwriting.

01

Where we actually are

Happy, mostly well, functioning, enduring — and why nobody has to say which out loud.

02

Drift

It is never a decision. It is an accumulation of ordinary weeks, and it has a shape you can name.

03

Repair

The one skill that decides whether a marriage survives its own arguments. And the subject you have both silently agreed never to touch.

04

Money, load and who decides

What was agreed, what merely settled, and who is carrying what.

05

Delight and intimacy

The first thing to go and the last thing anybody mentions. We teach the conversation, never the performance.

06

The next ten years

Children leaving, parents ageing, and what this marriage is for now that the early questions are answered.

How a session runs

Together, apart, together

This is the part that makes it work, and it is the opposite of what most marriage retreats do.

1

Together for the teaching

You sit beside each other and hear the same thing at the same time. Twelve to eighteen minutes, never a lecture.

2

Apart for the discussion

Husbands in one room, wives in another. Some things are easier to say first among people in the same position as you — and a wife will not say “we have not talked about this in four years” in front of her husband and eleven other couples.

3

Together for the exercise

Back beside each other, privately, with something written. This is where she says it to him — once, quietly, with the whole session behind her.

It ends with a covenant you write yourselves

On the last evening every couple gets one page and forty minutes: what we are keeping, what we are stopping, what we will say out loud this year, and the date we will retake the Check-Up. Both of you sign it. Nobody collects it, nobody reads it, and no leader will ever ask what is on it. In two years, when the same subject comes back, you will have the page.

Join the next cohort

Tell us where to write.

Leave your address and we will send the next cohort dates, the price in your currency, and how to pay. Nothing is charged here, and the Check-Up stays free whatever you decide.

Couples enrol in twos. If you give your spouse’s address we will write to them as well — and to nobody else, ever.

You do not need a crisis to be allowed to work on this.

The Check-Up is free and tells you where you stand. The Course is the four evenings that move it.
